French Alps
Simply sit back, relax and experience the true meaning of a luxury all inclusive holiday with Club Med Ski. The climate in French Alps holiday destinations can vary hugely depending on where you choose to take your skiing break. The French Alps can receive a lot of snow in winter, due to its naturally dry, cold continental climate. Winter sports enthusiasts are generally given the best of the snow in our French Alps resorts, with slopes of up to 3,000m high sitting in the most fruitful area for frost.
Italian Alps
Enjoy a luxury all inclusive Club Med Ski holiday with no hassle whatsoever when you travel with Club Med. The climate in Italian Alps holiday destinations can vary hugely depending on where you choose to take your skiing break. The Italian Alps experience a similar climate to the Swiss Alps, but tend to enjoy warmer summers and winters in the areas occupying lower slopes and valleys. With plenty of snow for winter skiing and humid summers, the Italian Alps are considered one of the most ideal holiday landscapes, any time of year.
Swiss Alps
Simply sit back, relax and experience the true meaning of a luxury all inclusive ski holiday with Club Med Ski. The climate in Switzerland ski holiday destinations can vary hugely depending on where you choose to take your skiing break. The Swiss Alps have a varied climate, and how much snow you’re likely to get will be dependent upon the altitude of the area. The lower valleys have a much milder climate than the more mountainous areas, but the climate, whether you’re in the peaks or in the valleys, is largely influenced by weather fronts coming in from the Atlantic.
Why the European Alps are paradise for ski lovers
Skiing is a deep rooted culture in the European Alps, as it was used as a means of transportation hundreds of years before it became the recreational activity it is today.
With this in mind, if you’re looking to experience a classic ski holiday complete with quaint medieval villages and luxurious mountaintop chalets, the Alps should be high on your list.
The European Alps are known for having some of the best ski terrain in the world, with well-groomed pistes and steep slopes that boast extremely varied terrain. Of course, there’s plenty of terrain suitable for beginners and intermediate skiers as well, and most ski resorts in Alps also have ski schools with lessons to suit every skill level.
Aside from incredible ski terrain, ski resorts in the Alps are also known for their stunning views, world-class dining and a unique après-ski experience. What more could you ask for?
Best time to ski and enjoy winter sports in the Alps
If you’re hoping to enjoy a ski or winter sport holiday in the Alps, it’s important to time your visit right. Although the ski season can start as early as November and last until the end of April, the best time for guaranteed snow in Alps tends to be February or March.
Another excellent time of year for skiing in the Alps is around Christmas and New Year during the Singaporean school holidays. So if you want to experience an unforgettable white Christmas in the Alps, be sure to book your flights and accommodation well in advance.
Visiting later in the ski season can be great too, though, as the days will be longer and likely sunnier which means you’ll have more time to enjoy the slopes.
